Historie

For more than 260 years we have been caring about our guests – Lampes Posthotel, where hospitality is at home!

1749 - now

1749
In 1749 the first guesthouse was built on demand of Charles I of Brunswick in the centre of the traditional glass manufacturing area around what is nowadays the village of Grünenplan. After several owners had sold the guesthouse, it was post bus driver Konrad Lampe I from Duingen who bought the guesthouse in 1886.

1886
a post office was introduced to the guesthouse. Until 1920 the guesthouse was a regular stop for the stagecoach.

1919
Konrad Lampe II (son of Konrad Lampe I) took over the guesthouse. He modernized the premises and turned the old „Gasthaus zur Hoffnung“ into Lampes Hotel.

1945
Conrad Lampe III took over the business and expanded the hotel: he built a dance hall and a big cinema.
1974
Gabriele (nee Lampe) and Jürgen Borchard open a new kind of restaurant: „Der Krug“.
1981
Mr and Mrs Borchard add a modern hotel wing to the main building. Now, they can offer room for 50 guests. This is the cornerstone for the future Lampes Posthotel.
